Alcohol Based Drinks Policy

Purpose and Applicability

This policy governs the service and/or consumption of alcohol consumption at Roger Williams University, including Roger Williams University School of Law (“University”), and relates to activities in the University’s Bristol, Portsmouth (Baypoint), and Providence (One kingdom Street) campuses and off-campus University-sponsored occasions. An off-campus University-sponsored event is an event occurring at any off-campus location where alcoholic beverages are served and/or consumed and the event is hosted and/or paid for in whole or in part by the University, including but not limited to any school, department, office, group, club, or team of the University for purposes of this policy.

Types of activities which can be governed by this policy include, but they are not restricted to, the immediate following:

  • University-sponsored seminars, dinners, occasions, meetings, and receptions;
  • Department, faculty, or staff conferences and receptions, including those occurring after company hours; and
  • Alternative party seminars, occasions, conferences, and receptions.

This policy will not connect with the annotated following:

  • The possession or use of alcohol consumption by University students or their visitors which will not happen at A university-sponsored occasion (governed by the pupil Handbook and noted in this document);
  • The control or usage of alcoholic beverages by Coordinators of Residential Education (“CORE”) or their visitors avove the age of 21 in KEY flats (governed by the CORE Staff Manual);
  • The control or usage of alcohol based drinks by University workers who have a home in University flats or their visitors avove the age of 21 within their assigned University flats; or
  • The control or usage of alcohol consumption during the University Residence because of the President, their loved ones, or their guests that are personal or even to occasions in the University Residence of ten or fewer people.
